The Monday Mix -Amelia Island Photographer

Mondays on my blog will now be known as “The Monday Mix.” This will be random collections of my thoughts as well as introductions to my favorite places, spaces, products and people. Most Mondays are a little “blah” and you spend your weekend wishing for a day between Sunday and Monday, but today is July 4th so many of you are our celebrating America’s Birthday and enjoying the long weekend! In celebration of the 4th, here’s a few photos of a recent pit-stop in Charleston, SC. It’s as iconic and idealistic Americana as you can get on the East Coast! It was so cute, all these little flower boxes had me ready to DIY it up when we left!

  • Charleston is meant for the fall and spring. I may be spoiled, but it’s too hot to walk around in the Summer with no AC! There were cameras everywhere on Rainbow Row – which is were all these photos were taken. If you’re going, get there early in the day to beat the heat and the crowds!
  • My favorite summer locations are anywhere with a beach! If you’re in Florida and looking for clear water, check out Marco Island and Tigertail beach. Keith and I spent a lot of summers there when we were first married and we always had a great time looking for shells and sand dollars.
  • Did you forget your sunscreen? Skip the aloe and try Solar Recover instead: https://solarrecover.com/products/save-your-skin It has kept me from peeling multiple times. When we fried ourselves in the USVI several years ago a local recommended it and it helps so much! No, I’m not affiliated in any way, but I can tell you this saved me from blisters on more than one occasion.
  • Back up your iPhones! I dropped mine while floating down the Ichetucknee River and lost 9 months worth of of photos. Super Lame! I hate to say it, but I should have listened to my husband and backed it up like he kept telling me to.  Someone is going to be really excited when they find it. We snorkeled and looked for quite some time with no luck. It was in a watershot dive housing so in addition I’m out $200 for the case. If you find it, I promise to give you a reward + a hug!
